Ciudad Vorágine Indie and melancholic, psychedelic and existentialist post-rock.

Ciudad Vorágine is a Colombian indie and post-rock band that seeks to represent, through their songs, the implicit part of the city; that feeling that everyone lives, but no one tells, that melancholy for the lack of opportunities added to the negative situations to which a common citizen is exposed, which often becomes resignation or conformity.

Sesiones de Bodega’ is their debut EP, a work whose central axis is psychedelia that transversely crosses themes of spite, existentialism, partying, disorder and empowerment.

Formed by Santiago Villegas (El Santi) on vocals, Alejandro Silva (Bob) on guitar and backing vocals, Jhon Vargas (Jhonas) on guitar, Camilo Velásquez (Camello) on bass and Alejandro Muñoz (Cucho) on drums, Ciudad Vorágine’s musical intention is to interpret and transmit the environment that surrounds them, so that those who listen to them can identify and relate to the experiences they express in each of their musical creations.

“With our songs we want to reach people who, like us, feel and understand those feelings of uneasiness inside because of the fear of the future that inevitably comes, because of the past that is already gone and because of the present that we complain about. We intend to serve as a catharsis for many, to generate fun spaces, to produce sensations in those who know us and, obviously, to move the soul and the body”.

Comenta el grupo cuyas influencias musicales son Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Human Tetris y Queens of the Stone Age.

‘Bodega Sessions’ is their debut EP, a work whose central axis is psychedelia that transversely crosses themes of spite, existentialism, partying, disorder and empowerment.

Ciudad Vorágine and its ‘Bodega Sessions’ are perfect to listen to at every moment of the day: If there is sadness it is advisable to listen to ‘Melancolía en E’, if you can’t sleep or you are walking around the city with your head somewhere else the ideal is ‘La Náusea’ and ‘Parálisis: Falling’, if you’re partying, want something rough or are just in the mood you have to give ‘Storm on Jupiter’ and ‘The Essence of Being’ a chance, and for spite ‘Displicencia’ promises to revive that grudge.

“It is important to listen to Ciudad Vorágine to be in touch with the implicit part of each person. Many times obligations consume us and do not give room for other feelings, sensations or experiences. We, on the contrary, are everything that the cannibal system discards, they want our sweat and our flesh, we transmit essence and energy.”

The group concludes.
